Wayland High School is a 1:1 environment, which means that each student is expected to have a computing device every day. 

At WHS, we provide every student with a MacBook Air for their learning.  Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) is not an option as we find classroom instruction and technical support to be much more efficient in a standardized environment. 2024 12th grade laptop return

The primary collection for laptops and chargers will take place during Advisory on Friday, May 31, 2024.

• If laptops or chargers have been lost, families will be responsible for the retail cost of replacement (see below).

• For students and families choosing to provide their own replacements:  The laptop is a MacBook Air M1 with 8GB of RAM and a 256 GB SSD.  The charger is an Apple 30W USB-C charger and Apple 2m USB C-C cable (generic replacements will not be accepted as Apple will charge us for non-Apple products at the end of our lease)

• We encourage anyone with computers that currently have issues to bring them to the Technology Office so they can be fixed before the official collection.

***Seniors must turn in their laptop and charger by Friday, May 31, at 3:00 p.m. in order to participate in any Senior Week activities, including Class Night. There are no exceptions to this deadline. A laptop return is complete when we have the laptop and the Apple certified charger. We will not take partial returns.

Insurance and Repair

We expect each family to pay an annual maintenance fee (for SY '23-'24, $60), which insures the laptop against accidental damage over the course of the school year (broken screen, water damage, broken charger, etc...) and includes coverage for one full replacement device due to accident.  Lost chargers or laptops are not covered by the maintenance fee.

Waiver of the maintenance fee is available and means that families will be charged retail costs for all repair at the below rates:
